About The Palace Hotel Manchester

The Palace Hotel Manchester is one of the city’s landmark buildings. Formerly known as Le Meridien Hotel Manchester, this luxury Manchester hotel’s terracotta exterior and grand Victorian architecture certainly make the venue a sight to behold, particularly with its impressive 217-foot-tall clock tower.

Built in 1890 under the instruction of celebrated architect Alfred Waterhouse, The Palace Hotel Manchester is a stunning example of Victorian Gothic design. The grade II listed structure takes up its position right at the heart of Manchester’s city centre and is conveniently situated just opposite the Oxford Street train station and next to the Palace Theatre. The Palace is also just a short distance from the Opera House and Bridgewater Hall as well as many of Manchester’s other attractions and places to eat out. Indeed, as one of the United Kingdom’s largest cities Manchester boasts a whole host of popular restaurants, bars and shopping areas.

The Palace Hotel is part of the Principal Hayley group of hotels, which includes other top venues such as the Leeds Metropole and the George Hotel in Edinburgh. The venue recently underwent a £7 million renovation on joining the Principal Hayley group, which as well as bringing the existing facilities up to date saw the addition of the Tempus bar, restaurant and lounge to its ranks.
