Things To Do in Manchester

The Palace Hotel is well located close to the centre of one of the busiest cities in the UK. Manchester has recently reinvented itself as a cultural hub, with artistic venues including the Palace Theatre and Manchester Opera House. The city also offers great shopping in the Manchester Arndale Centre, one of the largest shopping malls in the UK, a thriving gay scene based around Canal Street and a vibrant nightlife typified by The Printworks.

Museum of Science and Industry
Located within the grand setting of an ex-passenger rail station, Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry is a fun and informative family day out. The museum puts on regular temporary exhibits but has a great selection of permanent displays including the sights, sounds and smells of a Victorian sewer and the experience of being in a cotton mill factory.

Old Trafford
Manchester United is one of the most popular football teams in the world. Likewise, the Old Trafford football ground is one of the biggest visitor draws Manchester. The stadium tour gives fans a chance to explore almost every corner of the club, while the museum has displays including a trophy room, hall of fame, and the Treble Exhibition chronicling Manchester United’s triple-winning 1998-99 season.

The Lowry
The Lowry is a striking contemporary building overlooking the water in Manchester’s redeveloped Salford Quays area. The Lowry, named for the famous Manchester-raised artist LS Lowry houses the biggest collection of his work currently on public display. In addition to this, the gallery shows ever-changing short-term collections and has two theatres dedicated to performing arts.
